Building Control for Conservatory Roofs, Explained

By Nu-Look Local

"Building control" is the process that checks building work against the building regulations. When you replace a glass or polycarbonate conservatory roof with a solid tiled roof, it normally applies.

Who handles it?

We do. We arrange building regulations approval and the completion sign-off for you where it's needed, and handle the paperwork so you don't have to.

What gets looked at

Mainly the structure and the insulation. That's why every Nu-Look roof starts with a structural survey of your frames, footings and brickwork, and why the roof is built to a U-value of 0.14 W/m²K.

Other approvals and options

Building control is separate from other approvals such as planning. Whatever applies to your home, we can obtain the relevant approvals for you where required. In some cases, building regulations indemnity insurance may also be an option. We'll explain what's relevant at your survey.

Keep your paperwork

Once the job is signed off, keep the completion certificate with your house documents. You'll want it if you ever sell.
